Rutgers Basketball Scandal

As many you have probably seen in recent days the Rutgers Basketball program has seen its coach fired because of incidents during practice and now the Athletic Director Tim Pernetti is out.

Let us recap:
In December and probably for much longer head coach Mike Rice was captured on video shoving, grabbing and throwing balls at players and using gay slurs during practice.
I'm an athlete so I've seen some outrageous languages and attics during practice to motivate a player but never in my life have a seen someone throw a ball repeatedly at a players face or attempt to kick a player during a live drill.
Coaches are suppose to be teachers not bullys that intimidate and demean their players.
Rutgers has had no less than 6 players transfer in the last 3ish years and now we see why.
Rice needed to be fired in December when this video first surfaced not suspended and sent to counseling.

Pernetti no doubt would have been fired had he not resigned today just because he knew that this was going on and did barely anything to stop it. In light of the Penn State/Jerry Sandusky scandal last year this may get even worse for Rutgers.
The Sandusky verdict penalized the school for not reporting potential abuse to the authorities, now while the abuse in that case was much more severe, their was physical and mental abuse in this case as well.
The NCAA now has the right to review this case and could impose penalties because of the precedence set from the Penn State scandal. While I don't think it is necessary for the NCAA to punish the University it might happen depending on how long this was going on.
